Customs Clearance process between UK and EU explained step by step
We make customs clearance as simple and as straight forward as possible. We know you are busy and we value your time. If your goods are subject to permanent export or import regime, you will likely follow one of the processes shown below.
4x main type of Customs Clearance processes we offer:
Smart Border – we recommend this option to all customers as it the simplest and allows for import clearance at the point of entry therefore negating the need for arranging another customs agent at destination in order to complete import and discharge transit form (T1). With this option Salvatori will take care for the whole customs clearance process for you, so neither you or you trading partner don’t have to worry about anything. Your goods will be customs cleared at the border, and can be delivered to you without any further customs stops.
Smart Border (SPS Goods) – for Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) goods, we will arrange for your cargo to be checked by Port Health authorities (ie. DEFRA, SIVEP) at the point of entry. The customs declaration will be completed at the same time.
Transit movements – sometime importers prefer to use their own agents in their own country, so if you or your trade partner needs to have import clearance completed at the destination rather than at the border, that’s not a problem. We can raise Transit document (T1) and your goods will be able to cross the border and continue straight to customs office of your choice.
Transit movements (SPS Goods) – for any plant or animal freight, you will still need to undergo a Port Health check at the border. This is no issue, we can arrange this for you as well. After your goods are cleared of veterinary or phytosanitary checks, they will be able to carry on to customs office at destination to have their import declaration completed and transit form discharged.
